Chapter House

Welcome to the Alumni Website of our Presently Closed Chapter in SLO

This site is dedicated to keeping the 1,600 Alumni of Delta Sigma Phi from San Luis Obispo connected and informed about Alumni and University news, issues, and events. Delta Sigs were the first national social fraternity men in SLO-Town. Our national fraternity was founded in 1899 and our SLO Chapter was established in 1950. Our chapter was closed on April 1, 2018, for a period of 18-months. Our bond and brotherhood last a lifetime. We look forward in the future to again providing mentoring, leadership training, character-building programs, and scholarships and other academic-achievement incentives to young men when our SLO chapter again has the privilege of University recognition.

Poly P Scholarship

Poly P ScholarshipSLO Delta Sig alumni established a philanthropic scholarship program in 2012, the “Poly P Scholarship”. This program provides our alumni with a collective means of giving-back while honoring our older DSP Brothers who built the present hillside “P” in 1957. To date DSP alumni and their wives have given $12,750 directly to non-fraternal and non-sorority students based upon merit and need. Non-Greek freshman men and women equally share in educational awards. The 2018 competition begins Thursday, November 1st (subsequent to Greek-recruitment) and ends at midnight on Friday, December 7th, the last day of Fall Quarter classes (to avoid interference with the final exam week).

  • REUNION: DSP will celebrate its reunion from Thursday to Sunday, April 19-22, 2018, in SLO. This is one week after the University's Open House. Our reunion date of one week later was necessary because that is when facilities were available for us (and we started planning last May)!

Click on this one-page reunion summary for details! Click on this simple reservation form for how to attend the alumni dinner-dance at Madonna Inn on Saturday, April 21, 2018 - and select your entree and prepay.

  • NEW CHAPTER PROGRAM: Starting in November, 2016, alumni can help our Chapter's seniors. We are starting the "Senior Transition" program - a career-assisting collaboration. Our undergraduate seniors will be matched with alumni based upon the same majors or areas of career interest. Alumni will be able to provide resume tips, industry insights, and interview advice. Contact Chris "Yabut" Patterson, W'73, at to participate in this trial program to support our men. To see an example of how this program is working for our June 2017 graduates, click here.

  • PHOTOS: Plans are underway to expand this site’s “Photo Gallery” to include the photos of recent alumni reunions.

    More about our Chapter

  • RETURN TO CAMPUS RECOGNITION: The Chapter is being strongly supported and guided by alumni and our National Fraternity during our two-year period of campus sanction. This period concludes during Spring Quarter 2017, and we look forward to discussing with the University regaining the privilege of campus recognition.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS: Alumni Again Gave Five $1,000 Scholarships In April

ImageAs we do each year at Open House, in 2016 Alumni again gave five $1,000 scholarships to deserving undergraduate brothers to support their education.

Since 2010, alumni have given $30,000 in scholarships to our undergraduate brothers. These scholarships are:

$1,000 New Member Scholarship: For the new brother who best exhibits leadership / involvement.
$1,000 Kevin Costello Scholarship: For the brother who best exemplifies DSP’s core values.
$1,000 Pete Foli Scholarship: For the member who unselfishly serves his brothers and Chapter.
$1,000 Joel Pimentel Scholarship: For the outstanding member who promotes Chapter Brotherhood.
$1,000 Working Brother Scholarship: For the involved brother with the greatest financial need.

  • OUR GOALS: We value our host University and continue to promote our many common goals. These include academic achievement, social development, living-to-values, campus involvement, community service, philanthropy, respect and tolerance for others, and the health and safety of our members, their guests, and all in the University community.

  • ACADEMIC SUCCESS: The academic year 2014-2015 was the last year the GPAUniversity made comparative grade-point-averages (GPA’s) available to us. The GPA graph for that year demonstrates our commitment to our members’ academic success. Delta Sigs exceeded the University’s All-Fraternity and All-Men’s grade-point-average!

The study room our members established in late 2014 at the Chapter House is paying "GPA-dividends"!

With our April 2016 donation, through our Golf TournamentChapter’s Delta Sigma Phi Charity Golf Tournament, DSP alumni have now given over $50,000 since 2012 to the foundation Aware, Awake, Alive. This not-for-profit was started at the University to educate students about avoiding, recognizing, and seeking immediate medical help for alcohol poisoning. We are honored to support AAA at the University and support AAA’s expansion to other colleges and universities to protect the health and safety of students everywhere.
